MARRIAGE

We celebrate marriage. We believe God designed marriage as the union of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. We believe marriage reveals the intimate union between Christ and His Church, and is the most sacred of all relationships except for our relationship with God. We believe God has sanctioned marriage to provide the framework for intimate companionship and sexual expression according to Biblical standards. (Matthew 19:5-6, Romans 1: 26-29, Eph. 5:22-31, 1 Cor. 6:9-11, 1 Thess. 4:1-8

CHILD DEDICATION

We celebrate Child Dedication.  Child Dedication is a ceremony in which Christian parents, and sometimes entire families, stand before the church and make a commitment to raise their child according to the Word of God.  Christian parents who dedicate a child are making a promise to the Lord to do everything within their power to raise the child in a godly way until he or she can make a decision for his or herself. (1 Samuel 1:11, Luke 2:22).  Two times per year we dedicate children to the Lord during our weekend services.

COMMUNION

COMMUNION

We celebrate Communion.  Communion is “the believer’s meal,” a sacrament intended for Jesus’ followers, by which they acknowledge and remember his work on the cross.  The Biblical foundation for Communion is Jesus’ final meal with His disciples the night before He was crucified. With His twelve friends gathered around Him for the traditional Jewish Passover meal, Jesus “took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying, ‘This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.’” (Luke 22:19-20)

Green Bay First extends an “open” Communion table, meaning the invitation to receive Communion during service is open to any follower of Christ regardless of membership at Green Bay First.  People who have accepted His forgiveness and surrendered their lives to Him are invited to share the Communion table at Green Bay First.  Typically, Communion is offered on the third Sunday of every month during our morning Worship service.
