MISSION & VISION

THIS IS OUR MISSION AND VISION

MISSION AND VISION

OUR MISSION

“At Green Bay First, our mission is to LOVE people, SHOW the Way and MAKE disciples.”

Our MISSION STATEMENT defines what we are currently doing in order to achieve the VISION.  Our MISSION STATEMENT can be summed up with three words…LOVE, SHOW, and MAKE.  Love People, Show The Way, and Make Disciples.  This is “HOW” we move towards the VISION.

MISSION AND VISION

OUR VISION

“At Green Bay First our vision is to BE the bridge of hope to the people of Green Bay and surrounding communities.”

Our VISION STATEMENT defines the ultimate goal of what we want to accomplish.  Our VISION STATEMENT can be summed up with one word…BE.  Be the Bridge.  This is “WHY” we do what we do.

LOVE PEOPLE

LOVE PEOPLE

In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “…LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second commandment is this: LOVE your neighbor as yourself.  These two commands sum up all of scripture.” In short, “LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS”

Later in John 13:34-35, Jesus said the way the world will know we are his disciples is by our LOVE for one another.  Not by what we say, but by what we do – LOVE.  The trademark of Christianity is unconditional LOVE by the people who claim to be Christians. God’s plan for the church is to express His unconditional LOVE for all people.

So our job is to LOVE people without conditions.  God’s job is to convict people of sin and lead them into a relationship with Him.  If we reverse those roles, we will be seen as judgmental and lose our capacity to reach the lost. The only one that can convict a lost person of sin is the Holy Spirit.  Our job is to simply LOVE.

SHOW THE WAY

SHOW THE WAY

Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise.”

SHOWING the way is simply communicating the message of salvation to unbelievers.  Jesus told His followers in Acts 1:8 that they would be His witnesses to “the ends of the earth.”  Our mission is to witness (SHOW).

The Bible says that we are God’s servants who work in unity with one another to produce a harvest.  One will plow the soil, another may plant the seed, and another laborer will water it, but only God can make that seed grow (1 Corinthians 3:7).  So even though we each may have individual roles, we all have a unified purpose of winning others to Christ.

We believe Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. When people do not have Christ, they have no hope.  There’s a place inside of all of us – a God spot – that can only be filled by Him.  People look for meaning and significance in worldly possessions and relationships.  They try to fill that spot will all sorts of things.  However, nothing in this world satisfies them, which leads them to a place of hopelessness.

When people are introduced to Christ, they find everything they have been longing for their whole lives.  They find a heart reconnection with their creator, they find a community of people who love them for who they are not how they perform, and they receive a renewed hope for meaning and purpose in life.

MAKE DISCIPLES

MAKE DISCIPLES

The Greek word for “disciple” in the New Testament is mathetes, which means “follower or someone who adheres completely to the teachings of another.”  Jesus was quite clear about the cost of following Him.  Discipleship requires a totally committed life.  Jesus said in Luke 14:33, “So, therefore, anyone of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.”

Jesus also said in Matthew 16:24, “Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'”

Not all of Jesus’ followers were able to make such a commitment. There were many who left Jesus after a while for we read in the book of John that many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed Him.

During His public ministry, Jesus spent more than three years MAKING disciples—teaching and training.  He trained them and then sent them out.  That is the goal.  Train people then send them to keep the process moving.

BE THE BRIDGE

BE THE BRIDGE

This is what we want to accomplish in our city.  We want to BE the bridge of hope.  A bridge is something that spans a gap allowing someone or something to cross.  We want to be that bridge for the hurting.  We want to be a place where people feel like they belong regardless of where they come from or their past.  We want to be known as a place of refuge for hurting people.  We want to make such an impact in our city that if the doors would close, the community would notice.  The complete Vision, VISION 2040, outlines in greater detail how we will BE the bridge.
